Maximino “Max” Muñoz is the Director of Operations and longest serving staff member at the National Butterfly Center. The son of a farmer and a nurse, Max learned a great deal about native plants and gardening from his parents who sent him to business school.

Fortunately, he couldn’t shake the call of the outdoors and has chosen a life amidst the wild things. He is equally willing to impart his horticultural knowledge at the center and take guests on an adventure of discovery down any dirt road. A native of rural McCook, Texas, Max is our beloved cowboy naturalist and should-be national hero.
